Surreal Collage
Inspired by Erik Johansson and Maggie Taylor, we will create a Surreal Photo Collage.
Check out the Surrealistic Me book, compiled of Surreal artwork by HS school students.
Choose 1 of the 2 options below:
Option 1. Self Portrait exploring a personally chosen theme (ex. identity)
Option 2. Thematic Narrative
Possible themes to tie into your work:
-Fantasy
-Fairytale
-Culture
-Reflections
-Identity
-Perspectives
-Romance
-Power
-Inside Out
-Opposites
-Systems
-Urban vs Rural
-Transformation
-Growth
-Cycles
-Landscapes of the mind
-Inner and outer world
Rules:
-At least HALF of the photos used in each collage should be taken by you, and the other half can be from the internet.
-You must incorporate the use of SPACE. You should have a foreground, middleground and a background.
-You must use at least 2 OR MORE of the Surrealistic Techniques in your photo collage. They are:
-SCALE
-TRANSPARENCY (layers-opacity)
-LEVITATION
-JUXTAPOSITION
-COMBINATION
-SUBSTITUTION
-ELIMINATE
-You should consider at least 2 principles of design when composing your collage:
